Dozens of youngsters from all over the county braved one of the hottest days of the year to tackle a cycling obstacle course at the Marlborough School playing fields in June.

The course - run by the Witney-based Windrush Bike Project - was just one of the activities at the Year 7 Inclusive Sports Day. The children showed off their cycling skills, weaving in and out of cones, riding over jumps and underneath a limbo bar.

Many of the riders recognised the Windrush Bike Project instructors from the Bikeability courses that they had taken in Years 5 and 6.

The bike project is a great resource for anyone interested in cycling in West Oxfordshire. It runs a thriving community bike workshop in Corn Street, Witney, and offers cycle training for all ages and levels of ability. A Wheels for All session is held every Saturday at Wood Green School in Witney with bikes that are adapted for disabilities. The project also sells second hand bikes and has a "bike library" so that anyone without a cycle can still be included in rides and training.
